Mark Dallas Hinsdale departed his earthly home for his heavenly home on March 9th 2023 at the age of 65 in Grovetown Ga. Mark was born on February 8, 1958 in Winston-Salem, NC to Dallas Ewell Hinsdale and Wanda Lou Williams Hinsdale He is preceded in death by his son “Mattie” Matthew Bryan Hinsdale, father in law James Lee Morrison, and brothers-in-law Allen J. Morrison and Ron Gothard. He is survived by his parents, Wanda and Ewell Hinsdale, his loving wife of 38 years, Mary Louise Morrison Hinsdale, 4 sons: James Dallas Hinsdale, David Michael Hinsdale (Eleana), Robert Edward Hinsdale (Staci), and Andrew Joseph Hinsdale (Sunny), seven grandchildren: Theo, Frankie, Norah, and Lily Hinsdale (David / Eleana), and Penny, Dom, and Sully Hinsdale (Rob / Staci), his older brother Alan Ewell Hinsdale (Laura), his mother in law, Velda Joan Morrison, 5 sisters in law: Lydie Strasburg (Gary), Becky Gothard, Crystal Morrison, April Morrison, and Gaye Edmonds (Tony), and many nieces and nephews. Mark was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He had numerous callings and served as a Bishop for several years in Evans.. He grew up in Winston-Salem and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. At the age of 19 he went on a church mission to Chile SA for 2 years and later graduated from Brigham Young University with a BS in marketing and finance. Mark and Mary met while attending BYU and were married in the Washington, D.C. Temple, Kensington, MD, on June 7, 1984. They had 5 wonderful sons, 2 North Carolinians and 3 New Yorkers. He was very proud of his boys. He worked for Hallmark Cards then Johnson and Johnson as a salesman before going into business for himself while living in the Rochester NY area. He then bought and managed several multi-family properties in the Augusta, GA area. When the boys started leaving home, Mark caught a travel bug. It began with a cruise with Mary, Rob and Andrew then he and Mary were cruising whenever he wanted to get away. He loved both the Caribbean and Bahamas but he especially loved going to Cozumel. He would drive a rental jeep around the Island— always stopping at a little friendly family run lunch place (with no electricity). It was his favorite quick trip so he loved it when he took Rob / Staci and David / Eleana there. He later went onto more exciting adventures traveling with his best friend Chuck Borup to China, Israel, Jordan, Poland, Czech Republic, Germany, Switzerland, Portugal, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, and Peru sleeping in hostels, a tent in the desert, or small hotels. He had such a love for South America, that, after he and Chuck went, he made several trips with Mary and other family members. Highlights were visiting Machu Picchu in Peru, SA with David and Eleana and taking Andrew to Argentina on a father son trip. Mark had an adventurous spirit, was generous to his family, loved to cook, worked hard, and had a knack for picking funny, quirky gifts which would make us laugh. The family will greet friends at a memorial service on Tuesday evening March 14th from 5:15-5:45 pm followed by a "Celebration of Life" service at 6pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 835 North Belair Road, Evans, Ga 30809.
