Ms. Sheppard grew up in Augusta, GA. She enjoyed shopping, dancing and gardening.
Ms. Sheppard is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Sheppard; and her parents, Henry and Helen Dempsey. Survivors include her children, Christy Sheppard (Heather), April Vantassel (Jason) and Cain Sheppard; sisters, Theresa Dempsey and Betty Nickleson; brother, Wayne Dempsey; grandchildren, Hailey Taylor( Aaron Evans) Alexis Paslay (Wyatt Handy), Jackson Sheppard, Carson Sheppard (Bonnie) and Maryjane Pearson; great-grandchildren, Aaden, Kingston, Azariah and Aarie; life partner of 13 years, Billy Rigdon; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
