A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, September 28th at 11:00 am at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 4255 Columbia Road, Martinez, GA. 30907 (706)868-9637.
Nina met her husband to be at Green Street Presbyterian Church. He was an Officer at Fort Gordon. Nine months later they were married and shortly afterwards they moved to his family farm in southern Ohio. They gave birth to two sons, Keim and Steve. Ten years later Albert was called into the ministry. After graduating from The Methodist Theological School in Delaware, Ohio, they served three churches on Ohio. They started one church of their own which embodied the expression of their love for Christ. They named it “Cross of Love”.
Nina was active in her gifting and talents, working by her husband’s side. Through the medium of flowers, she expressed wonderful spiritual truths to women’s groups in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. She was musical, artistic, an interior decorator, a national flower judge and taught sewing and quilting. One of her greatest pleasures was to impart to women “The art of gracious living”. Nina was a natural born leader-chairing whatever group she undertook.
To balance the hurts and troubles of this life she chose Saint Paul’s words – “Higher Things” – “whatsoever is true, whatsoever is noble, whatsoever is right, whatsoever is pure, whatsoever is lovely, whatsoever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think on such things” Ephesians 4:8-10.
Mrs. McIlvaine is predeceased by her son, Steve. In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by her son, Keim McIlvaine and his wife Kathy; daughter- in- law, Pam McIlvaine; granddaughters, Megan and Chelsea; sister, Christine Chase; niece, Esther B. Kitchens and her husband, Alfred; cousin, Carolyn Elam; brother- in- law, Charles McIlvaine and his wife Nancy; nephew, Chad; niece, Heather; sister- in- law, Mary Ellen Sheridan; nephews, Chuck and Jeremy; God-daughter, Judy English and her son Colen.
