Mrs. Park was a devout Christian woman and at her passing was the oldest living member of the Augusta Korean Methodist Church. More fortunate than many women of her generation, Mrs. Park attended school as a child and found great comfort in her daily reading of the Bible. Mrs. Park had a fine sense of humor and enjoyed socializing with family and friends. Although physically weak, she was mentally alert and sharp to the end.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Janis Coffin, MCG, for her long-term care, and Amy, Dee, Freda, Frankie, and Michael of Trinity Hospice for assistance at this trying time.
Mrs. Park was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Pyong Kuk Choe, of Seoul, Korea, and by two sons, Pyong Su Choe of Seoul and Pyong Hu Choe of Martinez, Ga.
She is survived by a son, Pyong Kyu Choe of Seoul; three daughters, Nancy Hill (Robert), Syracuse, NY; Pyong “Jin” Brown (Russell), Grovetown; and Pyong Ae Choe, West Palm Beach, FL.; a daughter-in-law, Sun Ja Park, Martinez; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 6, 2011, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 4255 Columbia Road, Martinez.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 7, 2011, at 11 a.m., at the funeral home with Reverend Yong Sung Lee officiating. A private family committal will be held at a later date.
