Richard Leon Crowe

Born in Holly Springs, Mississippi, Richard has called Martinez home for the past 50 years. After more than 40 years in the banking industry, he retired from Suntrust, and finally Queensborough National Bank. He loved golf, both playing and watching, but his love of the “greens” was reflected in the great care he took of his own lawn. An avid football fan, from player to eventually refereeing for the little league teams. Richard shared wonderful stories and memories of his time with Grandaddy attending Georgia football games and building the lake house. An excellent swimmer, many summers were spent teaching his children how to swim and ski. Richard was always down for an adventure, or road trip. Affectionately known as Grandpa, he loved his children and grandchildren dearly.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Will and Thelma Crowe; his sisters, Joy Tolleson, Peggy Marshall, Mary Wilkins and Ginger Robinsin. He is survived by his son Ricky Crowe, Martinez, GA, daughter, Nichole (Jeff) Cooper, Appling, GA, and granddaughters, Hunter Lauren Williams, Atlanta, GA, and Mason Ryan (Hank) Edwards, Lincolnton, GA.

Pallbearers who will honor Richard will be Carlton Colclough, Benny Colclough, Hank Edwards, Jeff Cooper, Tom Lewis and Casey Colclough.

A visitation for Richard will be held Monday, December 11, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 4255 Columbia Rd, Martinez, Georgia 30907. A funeral services will occur Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Westover Memorial Park, 2601 Wheeler Rd, Augusta, Georgia 30904.
