Dick proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957 before building a distinguished career as a Certified Public Accountant in Augusta, GA, where he built lasting relationships both professionally and personally. He found joy in the fellowship and study of the Men's Sunday School at First Baptist Church, sharing his love for the Lord whenever his health allowed.
Above all, Dick was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Cheryl Queen Swan, with whom he shared 33 wonderful years of marriage. His constant expression of love, "I love you," was a testament to their enduring bond. He leaves behind a legacy of love and family including his children: Richard (Rick) M. Swan Jr. of Augusta, GA; Bettina Gonzalez (Felipe) of Rabun Gap, GA; Kelly Swan (Brad) of Cairo, GA; Todd Justice (Rachel) of Rabun Gap, GA; Rachel Justice of Clayton, GA; and Matt Justice (Malisha Rogers) of Rabun Gap, GA and son-in-law, Rob Morgan of Martinez, GA. He is also survived by his sisters, Ann Swan Wren of Evans, GA, and Norma Swan Cartee of Olive Hill, KY, as well as 18 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Jerry Swan (Pat) and Robert (Bob) Swan, Jr. (Gayle); and his daughter, Beverly Swan Morgan.
Dick will be remembered for his steadfast character, his wit, love of family, and unwavering work ethic. He will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. There are no goodbyes, just "see you later."
