Mr. Robert Earl Entwistle, of Augusta, Georgia passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015. He was born November 21, 1928 in Memphis, TN and was a resident of Georgia for over 60 years. He attended Richmond Academy, Marietta High School, Georgia State College and Emory University. He served in Korea with the U. S. Army and received WWII Victory Medal and Army Occupation Medal of Japan.
Mr. Entwistle worked for Third Army Medical Laboratory as an entomologist in Division of Tropical Medicine, Savannah River Plant in Health Physics and Separations, and in DuPont in Sales and Engineering Management in several states including Wilmington, DE before retiring with 30 years of service. After retirement he owned and managed several restaurants.
Robert was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church of Evans, American Legion Post 63, Health Physics Society, American National Standards Institute and Star Promenaders Square Dance Club. He also enjoyed the Senior Augusta Aquatics Program.
Mr. Entwistle was a loving husband to Theresa Christie Entwistle for over 66 years; father to three children, Amelia Entwistle (Bobby) Hutto of Evans, Martha Entwistle (Edward) Aiken of Wilmington, DE and Robert Christie Entwistle of Martinez; brother, Rev. Daniel (Barbara) Entwistle; six precious grandchildren, Carrie Aiken(Ray) Mullin of Wilmington, Christie Aiken (Greg) Day of Wilmington, Kelly Aiken(Daniel) Johns of Boston, Dr. Jeffrey E. Quigley of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, David E. (Cheri Chestnut Quigley) Quigley of New Orleans, LA, Ryan E. (Courtney Winning Quigley) Quigley of Grovetown, GA; four great-grandchildren, Reagan Quigley, Abigail Quigley, Taylor Day and Kelsey Mullin.
Funeral Services will be held 3PM, Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Wesley United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Edward Aiken, Jeffrey Quigley, Ryan Quigley, Bobby Quigley, Bobby Hutto and Chuck Jernigan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, 825 North Belair Road, Evans, Georgia 30809.
