AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Samuel Chip Schwartz, SGM Ret., 80, of Augusta, GA, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at the GA War Veterans Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 2, 2014 at 2:30pm in the Chapel of Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Milledgeville, GA, with full military honors. Born in Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anne Cohen Schwartz. Before retiring from the Army as a Sergeant Major, he served in the Navy during the Korean War and in the Army he served 2 tours after the Korean War and 2 tours during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed chess and archery. Chip was a member of the Odd Fellows, Sergeants Major Association, and Knights of Pythias. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Paula Sodilsky Schwartz; sons, Norman (Carolyn) Schwartz, Grovetown, GA, Seth (Jean) Schwartz, Hephzibah, GA, Martin (Lisa) Schwartz, Augusta, GA; grandchildren, Joseph Schwartz, Benjamen Schwartz, Amanda Prince, Heather Schwartz, Nikki Martineau, Alexander Schwartz, and great-grandchild, Jayden Sales.
