

Shamsher started his life in India in 1934, but he soon traveled by ship to Africa. He spent 32 years in Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya, and spent time working on the railroad there. He migrated to London, England in 1966, where he worked for the Ford Motor Company for several years. The family left England and moved to Augusta, Georgia in 1980 where he resided until 2000 when he moved to Duluth. He enjoyed sharing stories of his life experiences and spending time with family. He was known for his simplicity and kindness.
Shamsher is preceded in death by his 3 brothers and 1 sister. He is survived by his wife Manjit Kaur Sandhu; his son Raj Sandhu (Harin) and his daughter Ranu Hallman (Bob Sterdis); grandchildren Aaran Sandhu, Arjan Sandhu and Jeffrey Hallman; his sister Balbir Kaur who currently resides in India.
A visitation for Shamsher will be held Sunday, May 4, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 4255 Columbia Rd, Martinez, Georgia 30907. Following the visitation will be a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
