Shyam Govil

Shyam Prakash Govil of Evans GA passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on December 17, 2025 at the age of 78. A funeral service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 21, 2025, in the Elliott Sons Funeral Home Chapel, Columbia Rd.

Shyam was born January 4. 1947 in Delhi India. He grew up in a large, loving family. He studied to be an electrical engineer at Warangal College, after which he got married to Madhu, had 2 children and then bravely moved his family to America in 1980 to start his career at Bechtel. For over 30 years he thrived with this company that eventually brought him and his family to Augusta GA in 1987. Shyam was a very loving family man and good friend , wonderful husband, father and grandfather. In Augusta he served the community as an active member of the Hindu Temple Society and Indo-American Cultural Association.

Shyam was preceded in death by his parents Roop Kishore Govil and Vidya Gupta, his brothers Bhagwan Prakash and Om Govil, and his sister Krishna Gupta. He is survived by his beloved wife Madhu Govil, brother Ram Govil, sisters Kusum Garg and Chand Prabha Singhal, children Meenu Singhal and Amit Govil, and grandchildren Sagar, Diya, Mila, Charlee, Calvin and Cai.
