Vera C. Henderson

Martinez, Ga- Mrs. Vera C. Henderson 95, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 11, 2018. Vera had a heart of gold and she showed compassion to all who met her. She enjoyed singing and many of her family followed in her footsteps with the love of singing. She was a faithful member of Cornerstone Fellowship Church, where she served in the Women’s Ministry, taught Children’s Church and Sunday school. Vera was an Avon sales representative for over 55 years. She spent her free time sewing, cooking and making precious memories with her family. She had the most creative bedtime stories. Some of her most fond times were at Christmas when she and her daughter and grandchildren would play Christmas music and dance around her house.

Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Henderson; daughter, Lynda Jacquelyn Hawkins; son-in-law, Joel Hawkins; daughter- in-law, Becky Henderson; 3 sisters, 2 brothers, 1 grandson and 5 great-grandchildren.

Left to cherish her sweet memories is her son; Tony Henderson; grandchildren, Tim (Mandy) Hawkins, Tabatha (Dwayne) Soto, Phebe (Jim) Simons, Timon (Melinda) Hawkins, Candy (Henry) Shaffer and 13 great- grandchildren.

The family will be receiving friends 6 PM-8 PM Sunday, January 14, 2018 at the Columbia Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 3 PM Monday, January 15, 2018 at Elliott Sons. Rev. Tim Hawkins, Rev. Bobby Coleman and Rev. Tony Henderson will be officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery.
