

Warnie Phillips Griggs, 86, beloved wife of the late John J. Griggs, entered into rest Sunday, November 9 with her family at her side. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on November 15, Riverside Cemetery, Macon, GA, with the Reverend Gary DeMore officiating.
Mrs. Griggs is survived by her children, Dan Philip (Tonya) Griggs of Evans, GA, Larry John (Tammy) Griggs of Canton, GA, and Timothy Scott Griggs of Nashville, TN; brother James Marvin (Marianne) Phillips of Ellaville, GA; sister-in-law Louise (Jordan) Hudson of Richmond, VA; grandchildren, Wesley Tyler Griggs of Savannah, GA and Anna Victoria Griggs of Canton, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
Born in Ellaville, GA, Mrs. Griggs resided in the Augusta area for the last 7 years, and was a member of St. John United Methodist Church. For the previous 37 years, she resided in Macon, GA, where she was a member of Vineville United Methodist Church. She attended Georgia Southwestern College and Georgia State University before settling down to raise three sons. Warnie later returned to work, and retired from the Georgia Forestry Commission after 20 years of service.
The family wishes to thank the staffs of Elmcroft of Martinez, Augusta Gardens, Camellia Walk, NHC HealthCare, and Caris Hospice for helping to make Warnie’s last years happy ones. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. John United Methodist Church.
