World War II U.S. Navy Veteran William “Oscar” Baker, Sr., 89, returned to his heavenly home on February 14, 2015, after a valiant battle with a long illness. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.

He retired as Chief Bailiff of State Court, in 1997. Besides supporting his community, he had a passion for fishing and his church family.
Oscar is survived by his wife, Inez, his daughters, Levaughn Johnson of Evans, Maxine (Tracy) Grimes of Milton, FL, Joyce (Harold) Ford of Irmo, SC, and Debbie (Gene) Brown of North Augusta; his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
