I am saddened about Uncle Oscar as that's what my dad called him, I haven't seen him in years but knew him when my sister and I were very young.We are Eddies daughters ,

I am saddened to hear of Oscar Baker's passing. Even though we know he is in a better place, he will still be missed.  My prayers for peace, and comfort go out to the family.

Oscar was a friend. During my tenure as President of the Augusta Richmond County Committee for Good Government Oscar Baker (one of the founders) was instrumental (during that time frame) in a very active, meaningful, influential, and yes even somewhat unique and politically challenging organization. 

I remember; if Oscar felt the same about an issue or Candidate as you, you could find no better friend and ally, however, if he disagreed with your position you could expect a most formidable adversary.

The thing was; you always knew where Oscar Baker stood and that he was always sincere, believed strongly in his position, and tried to do what he thought best for the community.   

Augusta as a whole suffers a loss with the loss of men like Oscar Baker.

Rest in Peace Captain Baker.  You set a high standard for your brothers in the old AFD.

A precious man of God who held faith and family high like a torch, Bro. Baker's light will never go out as he was an inspiration to all who knew him. We pray a special strength and consolation for his precious loved ones and many friends. Bro. Baker is now united with 'that great cloud of witnesses' referenced in Hebrews, cheering the rest of us on. The beauty our family focuses on is the memories we cradle of him in our hearts, always mindful of the legacy he left in this earth. Love in Christ and fans of the Bakers, The Hallford Family

Our love and deepest sympathy to the Baker Family in the loss of their dear Husband, Father and Grandfather.  Mr. Baker was a wonderful friend to our family for many years; and served in the Navy; and on the AFD with our Dad.  They remained friends throughout their lives.  Our loss is now Heaven's gain.  May God bless and comfort his Family with warm and loving memories in the days ahead.

Met Oscar many, many years ago when he came to the C.H. Church in Graniteville, SC. He became one of our dearest friends. My Mom and Dad treated Oscar like a son when he would visit in our home. Oscar was loved and respected for his love for Jesus! Our love and prayers are with all of you during this time. Our loss is really heaven's gain. He is now worshiping and praising the one that he loved so  well, Jesus!

Brother Oscar was a strong pillar of the church and the community. We will cherish the memories of his deep voice encouraging worship with a "Hallelujah" and his and Inez's rendition of ""Beautiful Star of Bethlehem." What a joy and blessing to have had his influence in our lives.
