

William Henry “Bill” Jones, Jr., 84, loving husband and best friend of Margaret Beale Jones, passed away on March 25, 2025. He was born on March 17, 1941 in Norfolk, VA to the late William Henry Jones and Blanche Murrell Jones.
Bill was a graduate of the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order. Bill’s career included serving in management positions at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Virginia and Georgia. At Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Virginia, he entered the Human Resources field and subsequently served as Vice President of Human Resources at Central Fidelity Bank in Richmond, VA and Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Bankers First in Augusta, GA. Both banks have since merged into Wells Fargo Bank. Bill Served as Treasurer, VP, and President of local chapters of the Society for Human Resource Management and earned the designation of Senior Professional in Human Resources from the national organization. He served on the Board of University Healthcare Foundation and on the Georgia Commission for Equal Opportunity. He also assisted a number of local organizations as a Human Resources Consultant. In retirement, he served as a part-time employee for Elliott Sons Funeral Homes. Caring about and helping others were core values to Bill.
Bill served as an Elder, Deacon, and Moderator of the Diaconate at several Presbyterian Churches (USA). For the past 25 years, he was an active member of Trinity on the Hill Global Methodist Church where he served in a number of different roles and was a member of the Open Door Sunday School Class.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Katie (Sterling) Jones of Augusta and Wil (Robyn) Jones of Littleton, CO, his very special grandchildren Ellie Kate, Tripp, Barrett, Bennett and Ollie Jones of Augusta, and his sister, Harriet Jones Whitten of Atlanta, GA. He also had a special relationship with his nieces and nephew. Spending time with his family was a very important part of Bills’ life.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity on the Hill Global Methodist Church at 11:00am on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 with Rev. Roy McVeigh and Rev. David Jones officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Gathering Area behind the Sanctuary. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the Open Door Sunday School Class.
