He served in the US Army from June 1969 to January 1972. He received the following medals: Purple Heart, Bronze Star , Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic Vietnam Campaign Medal and Combat Infantry Badge
Andre received his GED while in the military. He then continued his education and received his Associate Degree at Hagerstown Junior College. Later pursued and obtained Bachelor’s Degree in becoming a Licensed Social Worker.
He later took a position at the VAMC where he became an addiction therapist. He lived and died for his God of Understanding, JEHOVAH. The love of his life was his QUEEN and his family.
He met his QUEEN Margaret Rice 33 years ago. He is survived by Shakeia Gilliam (daughter), Antionette Rice (daughter), Andre Rice Jr (son) and James Rice (son). Sisters: Barbara Drummond, Yvonne Rice-Thomas, Rosalind Moore (Walter), Jacqueline Rice-Hall (Joseph), Belinda Bryson (Carl) Seven grandchildren and one on the way, and four great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father James Rice, mother Rebecca Rice(Johnson), and two brothers Gerald Rice and Carlos Webster.
