August "Auggie" Gene Kennedy

Auggie was born on July 22, 2026 at UVA Medical Center with a congenital heart defect (CHD), having surgery two weeks later to try to repair his heart. After a tough battle, he passed peacefully in our arms on August 7, 2026.

Auggie will be remembered for his strength and fight to live as a heart warrior and the love he brought to many people in his life during his short time here on this earth. Unfortunately, not all warriors win their battle.

Auggie is survived by his parents, Bradley and Nicole Kennedy and his brother, Gabriel Kennedy of Hedgesville, WV; his grandparents: Wayne and Teresa McLaughlin of Martinsburg, WV, Donald Hardy of Ranson, WV, Steven Eichelberger of Hagerstown MD, and Michael Kennedy of Martinsburg, WV; great-grandparents: Norma and William Miller of Hagerstown, MD; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins who will forever cherish his memory.

He is now laying in his grandmother’s arms, the late Stephanie Eichelberger.

We are very grateful for the doctors and all the staff at UVA Medical Center for all they did for us and Auggie while he was there, as well as the Open Arms Foundation. And to all the many people for their prayers and support during this difficult time.

A memorial service honoring August will be held August 14th from 6:00-8:00PM at Rosedale Funeral Home, Martinsburg, WV.
