

Daisy Ray Battle Grantham was born on November 26, 1953, to the late William Henry Battle and Daisy Pace Battle. Her life was a reflection of strength, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family.
She graduated from Greene Central High School in 1972 and went on to work for many years at the Caswell Center in Kinston, North Carolina. It was there that she met her beloved husband, Harry Grantham. Together, they shared 40 years of marriage filled with love, dedication, and partnership.
In 1988, they made their home in West Virginia, where she continued to build a life centered around family and community. She was a member of Elks Lodge No. 778 in Martinsburg, where she cultivated lasting friendships and remained actively involved.
Daisy was known above all for her caring and selfless nature. She spent the remainder of her life opening her home to care for many family members, offering love, comfort, and support without hesitation. Her home was always a place of warmth, strength, and unconditional love.
She is reunited in death with her husband, Harry Grantham; her sisters, Odessa Vail, Bernice Vail, and Betty Pace Bankhead; her brothers, Louis Lee Joyner, Troy Vail, Roy Vail, William “Pete” Pace, and James “Jack” Gorham; her grandchildren, Paris and Kevin Howard; her in-laws, Henry Grantham, Robert Grantham, Andrea Elizabeth Grantham “Tippy,” and two infant brothers-in-law; and her sister-in-law, Denise Grantham.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sons: Julian D. Pace and Kevin Freeman; her grandchildren: Ray Qwan Pace, Tiera Garrido, Darius Bush, and Joshua Garrido; her special niece, Tanekia Shamein Pace and nephews: Louis Joyner Jr Snow Hill, NC,
William Terrell Colbert Fresno, CA , Jaleria Joyner La Grange, NC; her beloved cousin/sister, Alice Faye Greene; her great-nieces: Nakardiia Jones of North Carolina and Zimira Pace of North Carolina; and her great-nephew, Ny’Jau Johnson of North Carolina, along with many other relatives and dear friends.
Daisy will be remembered for her fiery spirit and straightforwardness, as well as the deep love she gave so freely to all who knew her.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, May 8, 2026 from 10am-12pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1050 Lovelace Way, Martinsburg, WV. Funeral services will begin at 12pm and interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
