
Born January 14, 1940 in Martinsburg, WV; he was the son of the late Benny and Golda Leonard.
Dale was a graduate of Martinsburg High School Class of 1957. He received his B.S. degree in Mathematics and B.A. in History at Shepherd College; he later attended WVU to obtain an M.A. in Education. Dale served as an employee of the Army tank automotive command during the Vietnam War at FMC Corp. He was a research mathematician for the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon, a senior programmer/ analyst for the Federal Reserve Board and a Civilian Mathematician with the U.S. Navy.
Dale owned and operated Potomac Inn, Potomac Realty, and Potomac Tax Service in Colonial Beach, VA. He also owned a Bonanza Steak House Chain in Georgia.
Dale retired from the I.R.S., Martinsburg, WV. He then spent the next 19 years exploring the country in his RV.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Carl R. Leonard.
Dale will be sadly missed by his three children, Eric L. Leonard and his wife Robin of Milton, WV; Valerie Snyder and husband Dale of Hedgesville, WV; and Vanessa E. Vences and her husband Francisco of Martinsburg, WV; one brother, Wayne L. Leonard of Martinsburg; ten grandchildren, Daniel, Joshua, Romeo’, Jordan, Jayden, Emilio, Nina, Jacob, Sara, and Frankie; and one great grandchild, Brennen.
Memorial Services will be Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Tabler Presbyterian Church in Inwood, WV.
