Born in Martinsburg, WV on January 10, 1959, he was the second of three children by the late Beverly Dopson.
Dave was the proud father of 2 children and 5 grandchildren (he lost his beloved Carron in 2024). Dave's family was his life. Family holidays were most important, and Dave always cooked a 5 course meal for picnics and holidays. Dave carried on Grandma Boyer's Mac n Cheese recipe so that it became a staple at any meal function.
David Rainey grew up in Martinsburg in the early 1960s, moving to Las Vegas along with his brother Michael in 1968. Dave talked fondly of their time there. He and his new family moved back to Martinsburg the next year. By 1973, Dave and the family were living in Shepherdstown and he would soon attend Jefferson high school. Dave worked hard since he was a kid. He worked at a nursing home before he could drive. Later he worked at Drug Fair, where he met Aprille. He graduated from Jefferson high school in 1977. He later took a two year degree in business from Shepherd College. He worked at McDonald's, managed Mr. Burger on North Queen, and worked at Geno's in Shepherdstown. He worked at Cevis Steel Corporation for 2 years, W.S. Frye at Clearbrook for 2 years, was at Corning 16 years, and spent his final 10 years of labor at Ecolab. He worked full and part time as a realtor alongside his other jobs for over 10 years. Later, when dad died, Dave stepped in to run the family business, J n D's Club. Dave retired in 2024 but remained an integral part of J n D's up until a year before he passed.
Dave is survived by his wife, Aprille Rainey; his brothers: Michael Rainey, Dennis Rainey, Stacy Dopson; and his sisters: Rhonda Rainey and Crystal Rainey along with Allyson McCarty, Theresa Chambers, and Tonya Renner. He adored his son, Cory Rainey and all his grandkids: Dawson, Jay, Aiden, Tyler and Alexis, who he loved as his own; and his precious pups, Bear and Gypsy are still waiting for him to show up once more.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 from 6-8pm at Rosedale Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at 2pm at the funeral home. A repast will be held at the VFW Martinsburg POST 896 after the funeral.
