Ethel Catherine Shade

Ethel shared 52 beautiful years of marriage with her devoted husband, Clifford Shade. She is lovingly remembered by her three daughters, Shelia Haj Ali and her late husband Zaid, Catherine Ware, and the late Lisa Baker. Ethel’s heart overflowed with love for her grandchildren: the late Mark Bryan, the late Dominique Bryan, Kelsey Orr, Matthew Orr and his wife Victoria, Zachary Orr; her great-grandchildren, Dominique and Christian Bryan, who brought her endless joy and pride.

Ethel is also survived by her siblings, Leonard Glascoe, the late Robert Glascoe and his wife Joanna, Barbara Grim and her husband Buck.

Ethel’s warmth and creativity touched everyone she met. She found great joy in life’s simple pleasures — shopping trips, days spent at the beach, and baking for those she loved. Her kitchen was always filled with sweet aromas, and her famous pumpkin rolls were eagerly awaited by family and friends each fall.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 5:00pm-8:00pm at Rosedale Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at Rosedale on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 11:00am, with burial to follow in Rosedale Cemetery.
