Frances J. Castleman

Born on May 25, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Paul B. and Ranna V. Johnson.

She was a graduate of Martinsburg High School and married the late Earl E. Castleman on December 18, 1946.

Throughout her career, she worked for People’s Trust, The City of Martinsburg, and Interwoven Stocking Company before retiring in February 1991 from Martinsburg Lumber Company after 14 years.

Frances was a 65-year member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her daughters: Paula Mariner (Steven) of Ashburn, VA, and Michele Widmeyer (William) of Martinsburg; grandchildren: Jennifer O’Sullivan (Michael) and Ashley Mariner both of Ashburn, VA and Emily Bolin (Ryder) of Saint Inigoes, MD; four great-grandchildren; four nieces; five nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Paul B. “Junior” Johnson, Jr. and Donald R. Johnson.

Family and friends will be received at Rosedale Funeral Home on Monday, July 20, 2026 from 10am until the time of the Memorial Service at 11am. Inurnment will follow in Rosedale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Brookdale Senior Living (Hagerstown, MD), Berkeley County Humane Society (Martinsburg, WV), or St. John’s Lutheran Church (Martinsburg, WV).
