Glenda Lorraine Johnson Grantham, born to the late Silas C. Johnson Sr. and Pearl L. Washington Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her brothers James E. Taylor and Silas C. Johnson Jr., her sister-in-law Brenda Jane Johnson, her aunts Sara Cook and Dorothy Owens, and her parents-in-law Henry H. Grantham and Leona Branson Grantham.
Glenda attended Eagle Avenue School in Charles Town, WV, and later graduated from Charles Town High School. She then attended Shepherd College in Shepherdstown, WV, and married George Grantham, with whom she shared a son, Jerome (Jazzy) Grantham.
Her passion was always centered on helping others. She enthusiastically supported various missions at her church and community events. She consistently supported her educator nieces and nephews – Michelle, Shannon, Tajuana, and Cherelle – whether they needed supplies, party favors, or assistance with fundraisers. She also participated in the Angel tree adopted kids’ program. Glenda was known for her selflessness and her dedication to putting others first.
She was known for remembering all the small details. A master of sending cards, she ensured that everyone received one for every holiday, birthday, and any other occasion. She cherished her daily phone calls with her sisters and brother, with Jessie, Cissy, and Chanta being on the daily call list. She also had two work friends, Gilley and Jason, whom she adored, and they always supported each other. She was on the Potato Hill Reunion Committee as well as Sista Circle. She mastered online shopping with Amazon, QVC and enjoyed having her nieces Renae and Roxanne take her to the stores she wished to visit.
Even though her son Jerome was well into his years, he and his family received Easter and twelve days of Christmas gifts. She truly loved the holidays.
Glenda leaves behind to cherish her memory her son Jerome Grantham (Stephanie and Breana); her sisters Ardalia A. Taylor and Deborah K. Johnson Layton (Derwin); her brother Paul D. Johnson Sr. (Vilma); special friends Ann Reeler, Jessica Doleman and Selma Cash; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and friends.
