It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Hector Fourquet, who received his calling to heaven on May 12, 2023, at the age of 89. Hector was born on August 23, 1933, to the late Rosa Feliciano and Jose Miguel Fourquet. He attended Ponce High School and later bravely served his country during the Korean War.
Hector's love for his wife, Cristina Fourquet, was immeasurable. They were married twice, first before the Justice of the Peace before he went off to serve in Korea, and then in a beautiful church ceremony surrounded by their family and friends upon his return.
After the war, Hector pursued his passion for engineering and graduated from Catholic College with a degree in Engineering. He became a talented engineer and chemist, dedicating many years of his life to Fuentes Fluviales in Guayanilla, Puerto Rico, before retiring. Additionally, he had a distinguished career at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Ohio and Maryland, where he served as a boiler technician before retiring.
Hector was a warm-hearted individual with an infectious sense of humor. His presence would light up any room he entered. He had a deep fascination with music, culture, and Volkswagen buggies, which he loved to share with others. Known for his jokes, he always found joy in making others laugh. He possessed superior hospitality and enjoyed "compartir" (sharing) with his beloved family and friends. If it ever got too quiet during a visit, he would exclaim, "Y la musica," and proceed to play his vast collection of music, ranging from CDs to records. He delighted in cooking for his guests, often offering them samples of his exceptional culinary creations.
Hector is survived by his cherished wife, Cristina, and his children: Lourdes (Robert) Fourquet, Hector (Migdalia) Fourquet, Dr. Jose (Gisella) Fourquet, and Angie (Lissie) Fourquet. He also leaves behind a legacy through his grandchildren: Hector Jose Fourquet, Idalice Stokes, Ingrid Salguero, Angelie Spann, Jose Eduardo Fourquet, Atty. Jennifer Willis, Angelica Briedel, Jean Fourquet, Jerome Willis Jr., Anthony Blasini, Emilie Cora, and Natalie Fourquet. Additionally, his great-grandchildren Isabelle, Davion, Jalen, Tatiana, Kaori, Natalya, Angel, Alexander, Antonio, Analia, Kami, Roman, Isaac, Ezekiel, Axe, No’reana, and Nicholas brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his two sisters, Mildred Violeta (Nuno) Fourquet and Teresa (Carlos) Fourquet, as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Hector was a master of his craft and took great pride in caring for his home. Every day, he would meticulously tend to the grounds, walking the property line with dedication. His creativity shone through as he built numerous treehouses, dollhouses, and model boats to gift to his loved ones.
A viewing to pay respects and offer condolences will be held on May 17, 2023, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Rosedale Funeral Home in Martinsburg, West Virginia. The celebration of Hector's life will take place on May 18, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Rosedale Funeral Home.
May Hector Fourquet's soul rest in eternal peace, and may his memory forever be a blessing to all those whose lives he touched.
