James (Jimmy) Bryan Gifft, 74, of Shepherdstown, passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born October 5, 1943 in Charles Town to Melvin and Marie (Gifft) Schlack. He proudly served in the Airforce for 3 years.
In his younger years Jimmy liked to hunt, fish and jog. He worked for East Alcoa, Frederick Maryland, for 33 years. As he grew older TV Westerns became his favorite past time. He was a jovial and witty man with a robust laugh that his family will dearly miss. He met no stranger and his daughter’s friends became his friends too, filling his house with large groups of kids at times. He also loved his football games always rooting for the Steelers.
James is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patti Gifft; daughter, Kristi and her husband, Bryan Holler; two grandsons : Colton and Zachary Holler; sister Janie Dodson and her husband, Rodney of Berkeley Springs; brother-in-law, Jeff Stephens, sister-in-law, Nancy Owens; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Marie Gifft Schlack and step father, Richard Schlack.
His family will receives friends on Sunday 23, 2018 from 4 until 7 pm at the Rosedale Funeral Home, with Funeral service at 11am on Monday at the Funeral home. Interment will follow in Rosedale Cemetery.
