James Mercer Kilmer

James Mercer Kilmer, 59, of Inwood, West Virginia, passed away on October 7, 2026. Born on March 25, 1967, in Martinsburg, West Virginia, James was the son of Martin Kilmer and the late Patricia Crawford Kilmer.

James served his country with honor as a proud Army Veteran, attaining the rank of E5 Sergeant. During his military service, he was stationed in Germany, carrying out his duties with steadiness and commitment.

Following his time in the Army, James continued a life of dedicated service through more than 26 years with the Federal Government. He was also an active member of the Masonic Lodge, a role that reflected his devotion to fellowship, tradition, and community.

James is survived by his wife, Waltraud Kilmer; sons, Andreas Kilmer and Jamie Kilmer and, fiance' Reagan Gray; daughter, Karoline Koch; father, Martin Kilmer; stepdaughters, Rebecca Isbell and Jessica Oliver and husband, Winford; sisters, Kathy Wright and husband, David and Laura Barrow and husband, Paul; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his mother, Patricia Crawford Kilmer, James was preceded in death by his grandparents.

A Graveside Service will be held at Rosedale Cemetery on Wednesday October 14, 2026 at 1:00 pm.
