John L. Beitzel

John Lewis Beitzel, 81, of Martinsburg, passed away Friday, October 07, 2011 at his home. Born on July 9, 1930 in Accident, MD, he was the son of the late Lewis C. and Priscilla Alexander Beitzel. He was the beloved husband of the late Virginia E. (Ours) Beitzel. He was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Accident, MD, the N.R.A, WV Farm Bureau, AARP, and Southern States Farm Cooperative. John was an avid Hunter, Farmer, Fisherman, and Woodsman. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Marie E. Ellis and Catherine M. Beitzel; brothers, Ernest R., William G., Joseph L., Howard M., and Randell E. Beitzel. He will be sadly missed by two daughters, Judith A. Childs of Martinsburg, Charlotte S. Hansrote, and her husband Reginald, of Martinsburg; a son, Douglas E. Beitzel, and his wife Debbie L., of Martinsburg; sister, Irene H. Beitzel Day of Queen Anne, MD; two grandchildren, Kenneth R. Hess, II, and his wife Anne S., and Sabrina L. Harrison; three great-grandchildren, Lucas J. Hess, Jesse A. Hess, and Atlee Virginia Whittington. He will also be missed by their precious, beloved cat, Abigail. Friends will be received 6-9PM, Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at Rosedale Funeral Home, Martinsburg. Funeral Services will be held 11 AM, Friday, October 14, 2011 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 102 N. Main St., Accident, MD. Rev. Randy Nairn will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery in Accident, MD. Memorial Donations may be made in John and Virginia’s honor to Hospice of the Panhandle, 122 Waverly Court, Martinsburg, WV 25403.

Judy, Charlotte, Doug....We were sorry to hear that your Dad had passed, but know that he is done with suffering and he is with his beloved wife. I know you will miss such a vibrant loving father. I still cant believe such a vibrant and stubborn man has passed! I will miss his smiling, happy face and his constant asking for just a little more food than he was allowed :) He always made everyone who took care of him feel like they were his favorite person in the world. Watch out God, he is home!

Mr. Beitzel was an amazing man with great charisma. He was my "Harley Santa" John always made me smile and I looked forward to seeing his beautiful blue eyes. John was very special to me and I can only hope I touched his life half as much as he's touched mine. He will be missed! Heaven recieved a stubborn yet gentle angel, ill miss my "Harley Santa"
