Betsy and family,
We are so very sorry to learn this sad news. Please accept our sincere sympathy. We are praying for you, Betsy, and your family.
John was just an all-around great guy in all the interactions we had with him. He made the gatherings before, after, and during our ski adventures so much richer. Always had a smile and a kind word for us, sometimes a story.
Condolences,
Sandy and Rodger

Jack was a friend, a true friend who you could always count on to help and give advice - advice on a wide variety of topics. If he did not know the answer, he would quickly find it, and in the process, learn a lot more so that he could add to his arsenal of information and pique his interest in new hobbies.

Jack's hobbies ranged from music, video, IT/PC's to cars, trucks, woodworking, home building/renovation, travel, skiing, and, of course, vintage wines. Many times, Jack combined his interests in a common project such as his rather large hand crafted wine cellar. I sked him one time why he had so many projects - his answer was so that he could buy more tools!!

In many ways, Jack was an educator and invited many of us to a vintage wine tasting of seven years of California Zinfandels wherein we had to guess the year which became increasing difficult after several glasses since Jack did not believe in 'tasting and spitting out' good wine!

To Betsy and the Family :
How can you put into words what Jack's passing means to all of the family and friends. It is so heartbreaking that he is gone so soon. He has so many friends from working at Mack Trucks, from membership in the Little Heiskell Ski Club, and including all of his wine and travel friends over the years. He has touched so many lives with his friendship, and wit, and willingness to help. He has left us too soon, and, cannot be replaced.
With the most sincere heartfelt condolences,
Kirk Grooms

Many called him Jack, fewer called him Mr. Klein, but I was apart of the select few to declare his name as Gdaddy, my grandfather. I have so many fond memories of him and although unable to express all, one has placed itself special in my heart and mind that I wish to share. When I was a young child I had a tendency to make everything a jungle gym. Consequently Gdaddy, had to witness me make a new silver sports car at a dealership part of my imagination (he would know the make, model, and year of the car but I lack his intelligence and memory when surrounding cars). In the moment of the action he took responsibility in getting me off the brand new car’s door and scolding me, but I think later as time grew on that he admired my fascination with wanting to explore; not to mention the humor in a bold little girl climbing a car on a podium. This is acquired by him repeatedly telling me the tail whenever we would converse after a few drinks. He would also follow the story by saying “We were best buddies when you were little” while having a smile on his face. I love and miss him very much

Betsy & Family,

My name is Mark McGilley & I was a classmate of Jack's at Rockhurst HS. I have let the High School as well as our classmates know of his death. I am also in the funeral home business in KC and Rosedale Funeral Home is one of our affiliates. I believe you are in good hands. His funeral is on my 70th Birthday so I will say a prayer & celebrate his life. If you ever plan on having any type of services in KC I would be happy to help. 913-940-0221

Oh Betsy. Ralph and I are so sorry for your loss and the entire familie's loss. Jack truly was one-of-a-kind. Words cannot express how saddened we are and how we will deeply miss him. So many years of terrific memories that were shared over the holidays and, of course, our Lenexa BBQ cook off. The years that Jack flew in to help Ralph with the BBQ and I had to go pick them both up at 3 in the morning because they were dying of heat exhaustion. Jack was a trooper though and they returned bright and early the next morning to finish the contest. I don’t think we placed, but we had such a fun weekend on more than one occasion. Please know that you and your family are in our thoughts and our hearts. I know that Jack’s life was made complete with you beside him and I’m sure he ignited yours.

Our Very Sincere Condolences,
Libby & Ralph
