

Katherine Josephine Jackson, 89, was born on September 6, 1931 in Martinsburg (Blairton), West Virginia, to John Jenkins and Virginia Green Jenkins. Katherine passed away on January 22, 2021 at WVU Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg, West Virginia, surrounded by family.
Katherine attended elementary school in Blairton, WV, graduated from Frankford High School in Philadelphia, PA and furthered her education at Jersey City State College with a degree in Special education and Autism and degree at Essex Community College.
She was a devoted member of Prosperity Baptist Church in Summit Point, WV, a member of the Deaconess Board and active in Sunday school.
Katherine married Marcus Jackson in Newark, NJ. She had two sons, Thomas Jenkins and Jay Jenkins, whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by parents Virginia and John Jenkins, two brothers, John (Junior) Jenkins and Albert Jenkins and one sister, Hazel Jenkins. She is survived by siblings; sister Pansy Jackson and brother-in-law Rev. Robert Jackson, Sr. of Martinsburg, WV, brother Gary Jenkins of Victorville, CA, sister-in-law Mary Ann Jenkins of Shepherdstown, WV, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.
Katherine spent many of her years as an Educator at John F. Kennedy School in Newark, NJ and as a substitute teacher at Berkeley County Schools and Jefferson County Schools in WV.
Katherine had lots of friends whom she remained in contact with on a daily basis. She enjoyed traveling, reading, word find puzzles and reading the Bible.
Interment will be private. Continued prayers for the family and God’s Blessings.
