He was born in Hedgesville on February 19, 1932, to Walter M. Laign and Mary Elizabeth Miller Laign. Kenneth graduated from Hedgesville High School in 1950 and spent the next four years in the Navy serving on the USS Randolph aircraft carrier. Kenneth worked at the B&O/Chessie System Railroad first as a Clerk and then as a Yard Master. He retired after 45 years with the railroad.
Kenneth is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Faye Alice Keesecker Laign. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Susan Way and husband Todd of Martinsburg, and Marcy Walker and husband James of Herndan, VA.; seven grandchildren: Andrew, Matthew, and Dylan Laign; Justin and Caleb Way and Katelyn Way Mansfield; and Alexander and Anna Walker as well as several great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by a brother, Walter M. Laign, and a son, Ted Martin Laign.
A private service was held at Rosedale Funeral Home with Pastor Curtis Lowry and Dr. Mark Johnson officiating.
