
Born on December 14, 1934, he was the son of Lewis Rinker and Constance (Rinker) and Lee Denton. He was the president of his senior class, played basketball, baseball and was a center in football at Martinsburg High School class of 1953. He graduated from John Hopkin's University with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He also obtained a master’s degree in criminal justice from George Washington University and attended West Virginia University. He worked his way up through the U.S. government and his final job was with NASA in Washington D.C. as the Deputy Inspector General. After retiring from NASA and the U.S. government, he worked for the Committee on Appropriations for the Congress of the United States. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Martinsburg and the Equality Lodge No. 44 A.F. & A.M. of Martinsburg, WV.
He is survived by his two sons, Daniel L. Rinker of Martinsburg and David L.
(Melanie) Rinker of Martinsburg, two grandchildren, Lauren (Junior) Chandler of Stuarts Draft, Va. and James Lewis Rinker of Martinsburg. Three great-grandchildren, Weston Rinker, Levi and Colt Chandler. He is also survived by his two brothers, Gary (Nancy) Denton of Greencastle, Pa., and Robert (Cindy) Denton of Martinsburg.
He is preceded in death by his wife Sallye Miller Rinker and his parents.
There will be no visitation or services. Interment will be private.
