
Butch, as he was commonly known, was a retired U.S. Postal Service employee, having served in Smithsburg, Maryland, for 34 years until his retirement in 2021.
Butch will be remembered for his great sense of humor, kind-hearted nature, and his ability to find the good in any situation. He loved spending time with his family and was always ready to help those in need. His passion for remodeling and building things showcased his nurturing and loving personality. He loved nature and was a true outdoorsman.
Butch is survived by his partner and husband of 41 years, Richard Calef; their children: Jesse Dingle and wife Brandie of Fort Liberty, NC, U.S. Army, Tahmeia Dingle of Hagerstown, MD, Justice Dingle and wife Kara of Anchorage, Ak, U.S. Army, and Darien Dingle of Hagerstown, MD; his grandchildren: Scarlett, Bentley, Kyan, Kinsley, Hendrix and Colton; his siblings: Dan Dingle and wife Linda of Blue Ridge Summit, PA, Larry Dingle and wife Evelyn of Waynesboro, PA, Vernon Dingle and wife Dawn of Smithsburg, MD, Karen (Joy) Everhart, and husband Doug of Fayetteville, PA, and Tina Manahan of Hagerstown, MD.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Hazel Dingle; his sister, Nancy Poitras; and brother, Delbert Dingle Sr.
A Celebration of Life Service, officiated by Pastor Richard Daughtridge, will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, June 17th, 2024, at Pen Mar Park, 14600 Pen Mar High Rock Road, Cascade, MD 21719. Butch's favorite color was red, so the family would like for everyone to wear something red in honor of him. Thank you.
