Mark Edward Summers, 68, of Martinsburg, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with melanoma. Born on May 20, 1957, in Tipton, Indiana, to the late Boyd and Patricia Summers.
A proud graduate of Tri Central High School (Class of 1975), Mark went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Army from December 1975 to June 1981.
Mark's greatest pride and joy were his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Marcia Summers, and their three children: Scott Summers (Eleeka), Jamie Aldridge (John), and Tracy Malcolm (Stephen). He was the cherished grandfather of Lindsay, Logan, and Collin Aldridge; Kyra and Caleb Summers; Noelle and Ryan Hassanien; and Loralei and Desmond Malcolm.
Mark is also survived by his siblings: Alana Jo Calaway (John), Carol Lorts (James), Kenneth Summers (Cathy), Lori Little (John), Dennis Summers, and Pamela Gillbody (Mike). He is further survived by his dear aunt, Sandy Lefebvre, numerous nieces and nephews, and his two beloved cats, Jasper and Midnight.
An avid sports enthusiast, Mark had a lifelong love for the Cincinnati Bengals, faithfully supporting his team through thick and thin. He was also a passionate coach, dedicating much of his time to coaching basketball and baseball in Fredrick, where he made a lasting impact on countless young athletes. His enthusiasm for sports extended beyond coaching; he enjoyed running, often keeping pace with the younger generation, and enjoyed fishing.
Mark was also a devoted reader and took great pleasure in caring for his plants, which reflected his nurturing spirit. He was a kind and gentle soul who touched the lives of all who knew him. His sense of humor, love for life, and dedication to his family and friends will be missed deeply.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Rosedale Funeral Home on November 19, 2025, from 1:00pm until the start of memorial services at 3:00pm.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Melanoma Research Foundation and/or The American Cancer Society.
