

It is with great sadness we share the loss of our Mother Mary Susan "Sue" Henry, 93 of Martinsburg, W.V., she peacefully went to be with the Lord on September 20, while at her home surrounded by family. Born October 17,1931 to the late John Curtis Wolf and
Nellie Gano Wolf. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years Everett "Bill" Henry along with 4 sisters and 5 brothers. She was a 1949 graduate of
Martinsburg High School and a 1953 graduate of the City Hospital school of Nursing.
She always shared the greatest joy of her life was raising her family, she is survived by her 4 children; Debra Lupis, Mark Henry (wife Fran), Tara Simpson (husband Buddy) and Scott Henry (Susan). She was blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren
She started working at the early age of 14 in 1945 at Newberry's in downtown Martinsburg, where she met her lifelong friend Gryle Lou Mongan, who would later introduce her to "Bill" her future husband, they remained friends for over 80 years and enjoyed reminiscing often. She fondly remembered her nursing work from many years ago at City Hospital on Maple Ave. and often recalled the day the hospital moved to BMC.
She loved the time spent with all her City Hospital nursing alumni.
She leaves behind treasured nursing friendships with Barbara Elliott, Bernie Raney, Sylvia Smith and the late Dot Simpson.
She was a lifelong member of the Christ Reformed Church of Martinsburg and often recalled her Sunday school days.
She loved camping trips with family and friends and in later years enjoyed relaxing at Lake Anna where she enjoyed taking boat rides well into her 90's.
She will long be remembered for her kindness and gentle loving spirit, not only in her nursing but in her everyday life. The family would like to acknowledge and thank her niece Linda Burkhart for her many hours of loving care and all the smiles she shared with Mom while walking down memory lane. Thanks to all her friends at Christ Reformed Church for the travel assistance, cards & prayers, and Irene Allen for all the respectful compassion she shared while caring for our mom.
A special heartfelt thank you to Barbara and Ken Elliott for many years of loyal friendship and unwavering devotion to our mom in so many caring ways.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 5:00pm-8:00pm at Rosedale Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 3:00pm at Rosedale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family would like to honor their mother’s wishes and request donations be made to Saint Jude Children’s Hospital.
