Mervin Garland Knotts 80 of Charles Town passed away Tuesday November 20, 2018 at Hospice of the Panhandle inpatient unit. He was born May 20, 1938 in Davis, West Virginia to the late Mervin and Mildred Knotts.
Mervin grew up on Lantz Ridge where he loved to hunt and fish. He started his career as a custom home builder, doing most of the work himself. Later he worked as a carpenter for Harpers Ferry National Park service, with over 20 years of service. He was a good hearted and generous man to all that he met.
Mervin is survived by his wife of 60 years, Virginia; five children: Shirley (Jimmy) Dokes, Debbie (Jim) Catlett, M. Andrew, Theresa (Michael) and Joseph (Mindy); 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; three brothers; two sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister.
Family will receive friends at Rosedale Funeral Home Sunday November 25th from 4 to 6 pm., with Funeral service Monday November 26th at 1 PM. Interment will follow in Rosedale Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to www.rosedalefuneral.com
