Michael was born March 22, 1992 in Martinsburg, the son of Leonard and Bette Ann (Pickett) Vaughan, and the grandson of the late Allen and Jewel Vaughan of Williamsport, MD, and the late Ralph and Virginia Pickett of Mt. Airy, MD.
Although Michael faced many obstacles in life as a child with special needs and medical problems, he was always nurtured, supported and loved by his church family at Greensburg and Mt. Wesley United Methodist Churches. Michael loved all kinds of music, and especially enjoyed being with his family and extended family. His smile reached the hearts of many. He enjoyed listening to the sounds and people around him, and he was a blessing to all who knew him. Michael inspired us to look for the good in life even when met with challenges.
In addition to his parents, Michael is survived by his sister, Allison Vaughan Meley and her husband Brian, of Harpers Ferry; his brother, Scott and wife Courtney, of Harpers Ferry. He is also survived by his nephew Evan Frank Meley, of Harpers Ferry, as well as his aunt Judy Butler and husband Jim of Inwood; aunt Laura Beauchamp of Falling Waters; aunt Paula Wyatt and husband Kershner of Williamsport, MD; aunt Wendy Carr and husband Victor of Charles Town; uncle Wesley and companion Anne Zeboor of Maumee, OH. He is also survived by cousins, many friends and extended family, as well as his loyal dog Suzy.
Michael's family would like to extend appreciation to all who touched and all who were touched by Michael over the years. All of his nurses, doctors, teachers, and friends will always be close to our hearts.
A Remembrance of Life and Visitation will be held at Rosedale Funeral Home on Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 6pm to 7pm with a Celebration of Life following from 7pm to 8pm.
