Robert Frederick Hamilton, known to many as "Crusader" or "Crew," passed away on May 17, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on July 13, 1954, Crew was a resident of Hedgesville, West Virginia. He was the beloved son of Harry and Louise Hamilton, who preceded him in death, along with a brother and a cherished grandson.
Crew is survived by his devoted wife, Cindy Hamilton, and his sons: Robert, Brian, and Jason Hamilton. He also leaves behind two stepchildren, Michelle Welzel and John Collins, three sisters, and a legacy of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Crew dedicated his life to horses and horse racing, a passion nurtured by his father that remained with him until his final day. For over forty years, Crew was a loyal friend and employee of John D. McKee, formerly of Beau Ridge Farms. During his recent semi-retirement, he enjoyed spending his days with friends, including Curtis Bass, and teaching his grandson "Bubby" the ropes of the barn.
A visitation will be held at Rosedale Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 10 a.m. to the start of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
Crew's legacy will live on in humor, horse passion, hardheadedness, and dedication to the country way of life.
