He was born July 1, 1926, in Hedgesville, and was the son of the late John and Sarah Shirley.
Roy served in the US Army during WWII. He retired from the Department of Highways as a grader operator and was a member of Tomahawk Christian Church.
He will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews, and three sister-in-laws: Edna Alt, Shirley Shirley, and Mary Shirley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Runkles Shirley; five brothers: Delbert, Lawrence, Harold, Richard, and John; and three sisters: Leota Farmer, Hilda Markley, and Velda Shirley.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, January 27th from 6-8pm at Rosedale Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 28th at 2pm at Rosedale Funeral Home and interment will follow in Rosedale Cemetery.
