Ruth Buffington

Ruth was born on February 10, 1931 in Charles Town, West Virginia to the late John H. Young and Lena D. (Walker) Young. She graduated from Sheppard Pratt, Baltimore, Maryland, with a degree in nursing. Following graduation, she went to work for Kings Daughter’s hospital in Martinsburg as a registered nurse. During that time, she met and married Charles R. Buffington. After her husband’s death, she resumed her nursing career at City Hospital, finally retiring as a nurse from Heartland Nursing Home.

She is proceeded in death by her sister Helen L. Vickers, her brother, Robert G. Young and her daughter, Helen E. Buffington.

Ms. Buffington is survived by her brother, John H. Young, Jr. and her three children: Charles R. Buffington, III, Faith B. Power and Jon Robert Buffington; grandchildren: Nicole R. Buffington-DeMarco, Natalie Copenhaver, Ashley Berens and Curtis G. Power, IV; and many nieces and nephews.
