Steve was the youngest son of the late Leo Dick Knight and Glenna Kinney Knight and grew up in West Union, West Virginia. One of seven siblings, he was preceded in death by brothers: Fred, Michael, and Andy and sisters: Pam, Patricia and Vicki.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Adam Knight and his fiancée, Jodi Merwin of Irwin, PA; his daughter, Megan Johanson and her husband, Brannon of Clovis, CA. Being the best Boppa ever, he also is survived by his grandson and namesake, Stephen Knight; and granddaughters: Harper Elayne Johanson, Norah Beth Johanson, and Elowyn Theo Johanson. He also is survived by several nieces and nephews, and many others who were family by heart. He was Uncle Steve to many!
The things that made him the happiest were being with his grandchildren and his cats. Most folks thought Beth was the Crazy Cat Lady, but actually it was Steve! He loved sitting reading in his chair with a cat or two beside him and even better if a grandkid was there too! If a WVU football game was on, all the better.
A graduate of the West Virginia Institute of Technology, Steve worked in construction from the time he was 17 until retirement 45 years later. He was everything from a laborer all the way up to a Senior VP. He loved building schools, which was his specialty. He also enjoyed being a mentor to others in the field.
A man of faith, Steve lived his life with honesty, integrity, friendship and love.
Family and friends will be received at Rosedale Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 from 3pm until the time of the Memorial Service at 4pm.
