Virginia E. Beitzel

Virginia Evelyn Ours Beitzel of Martinsburg passed away on Monday, August 9, 2010, at her home. Born February 23, in Mt. Lake Park, Md., she was the daughter of the late James and Gertrude White Ours of Mt. Lake Park, Md. She graduated from Oakland High School, Oakland, Md., in 1945. She was a 25 year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Ft. Loudoun Chapter in Winchester, Va. She retired from Corning Glass Works in 1990. She was a Red Cross volunteer at the Veterans’ Administration. She was a member of the NRA, the Berkeley County Farm Bureau, and Southern States Corporation. She was a gifted seamstress and homemaker. She is survived by her husband, John and her children: Judith Childs; Charlotte Hansrote and husband, Reginald; Douglas and wife, Debra, all of Martinsburg. She is survived by her grandson, Kenneth Hess II, and wife Ann, and two grandsons, Lukas and Jesse Hess. She is survived by her step- granddaughter, Sabrina Harrison. She is survived by one sister, Mildred Grove of Pelham, and one brother, James Ours and wife, Emily, of Ft. Defiance, Va. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Franklin and Donald. She loved her cat, Abigail. The memorial service will be announced later. The family thanks Hospice for their care and concern.
