

Born on August 6, 1945 in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Walter Eugene Myers Sr. and Lu Ella Myers (Sheetz).
Walter was a 1964 graduate of Harpers Ferry High School and remained closely connected to his classmates, continuing to attend alumni events and class reunions over the years. He also attended Prince George's Community College.
He served his country with honor as a private first class in the United States Army, 25th Division, during the Vietnam War. In recognition of his service and sacrifice, he received several awards, including the Purple Heart.
Walter enjoyed traveling throughout West Virginia, with a special love for visiting New River Gorge. He was also a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his children: Adria Laine Barshinger and her husband, Scott Allen Barshinger and Kimberly Dawn Ritenour-Miller and her husband, David Lee Miller; grandchildren: Dawson Lewis Mathis and Jackson Landry Barshinger; partner, Patricia Mae Kite; niece, Julie Krista Halapchuk; nephew, Marty Cloud; and special cousins: Miles, Clarke, and Kenny Sheetz.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Kay Myers (Ritenour); sister, Ann Elizabeth Cloud; and brother-in-law, David Martin Cloud Jr.
Family and friends will be received at Rosedale Funeral Home on Friday, April 17, 2026 from 12pm - 1pm. A Memorial Service will begin at 1pm with Pastor Kyle Hamlin officiating. Inurnment with military honors will follow in Rosedale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Berkeley County Humane Society.
