Walter Andrew Smith, 68, of Little River, South Carolina, formerly from Harpers Ferry West Virginia, passed away unexpectedly on April 23rd. He graduated from Perry High School in Rockville Maryland and retired from Giant Food after 40 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, antiquing, and working on his 1939 Ford. He had a love for Elvis, Cherry Pepsi’s, and drumstick ice cream. He was a kind and loving partner to his spouse Judy Smith for over 40 years. Aside from being survived by his wife he was also survived by his brother Steven Smith, four sons; Shawn M. Smith, Christopher P. Smith (Erica Smith), Kyle B. Smith (Sarah Smith) and Michael A. Smith (Victoria Smith), as well as 5 grandchildren; Lizette, Audrey, Christian, Laikynn and Wyatt along with two more expected this year. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Marjorie Smith of Rockville Maryland as well as his brother Charles “Chuck” Smith. One of Walter’s biggest accomplishments was being a father and grandfather. His children idolized him, even as adults, and will miss his conversations almost as much as his hugs. Walter smiled with his eyes in a way that no one felt like a stranger and kept everyone laughing with his witty personality. Walter did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving his family and will be truly missed. A Viewing will be held Friday April 30th from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Rosedale Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Saturday May 1st at 10:00 AM, with Pastor Devon Ward of Inwood Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Rosedale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers please send donations to St Jude or Tunnel to Towers.
