
William Ernest “Dumps” Harbin, Jr., 91, passed from this life on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Berkeley Medical Center. Born on September 18, 1923, in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late William Ernest and Ione (Doy) Harbin, Sr.
William served proudly in the United States Army during World War II. He was a professional carpenter during his working career.
His hobbies included repairing automobiles and working on projects in his woodworking shop. He also loved spending time with his family, and especially loved his pet dog, “Snoopy”.
William is survived by this step-son, Francis Prochazka and wife, Carol of Hedgesville, WV; one step-daughter, Joan Coyne of Washington, DC; one brother, John Harbin of Brooms Island Maryland; and by four sisters, Jean Morris of Prince Frederick, Maryland, Juanita Harris of King George, Maryland, Faye Reynolds of Owings, Maryland, and Bonnie McCarson of Hughsville, Maryland.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his loving wife, Gladys Elizabeth Harbin.
Graveside services were held privately on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery, 83 Back Creek Valley Road, Hedgesville, West Virginia. Services included a military honor guard, and were presided over by Pastor Joseph Craig. Songs were by Pastor Craig and his wife, Faith.
