The daughter of Melvin and Rheva Hollar, Wilma was born just before midnight on August 12, 1936, followed by her beloved twin sister, Wanda, a few minutes after midnight on August 13. Sixteen months later came their twin brothers, Gary and Larry.
Wilma graduated from Martinsburg High School in 1954, where she and her twin siblings all enjoyed playing in the marching band. In 1959 she married a country boy from Berkeley Springs, Daniel Kesecker, also a twin. Together they had twins, Tim and Kim, as well as one “regular child,” Shelly, as she referred to herself in a family of twins.
Wilma became a working mom when her children started school. She worked in several positions at Merchants and Farmers Bank in downtown Martinsburg and went on to become the branch manager of the Inwood office.
One of Wilma’s favorite things in life was singing in the choir at Otterbein United Methodist Church. She loved family fun times, whether it was the Hollar family “putting on a show” on the back patio, or the Kesecker clan gathering at Grandma’s house in Berkeley Springs. She also loved hosting parties and gatherings at their home on Central Avenue where friends, fun and laughter filled their home. Volleyball and square dancing were the highlights of many gatherings. She always enjoyed going to see Englebert Humperdink in concert with her twin sister and their friends, including one of her very special friends the late Doris Brown. But above all, without a doubt her favorite thing was slow dancing with her man, Dan.
Wilma is survived by her husband, Daniel Kesecker; her daughter Shelly (husband Charles “Bucky” Kerr); her twin children Kim and Tim; her granddaughter Emily (husband Joshua Stangle); and great granddaughter Gabrielle. She is also survived by her twin sister Wanda Koltas (Las Vegas), and twin brothers Gary Hollar and wife Juanita (Marietta, GA) and Larry Hollar and wife Ruth Ellen (Fredericksburg, VA).
Wilma will be lovingly remembered for her beautiful smile and gentle ways, her warm hospitality and fun-loving spirit, as well as her red velvet cake and chipped beef gravy (her secret ingredient was love).
A memorial service will be held at 11am at Otterbein United Methodist Church, Martinsburg on Saturday March 9, 2019.
