He was born in eastern Washington, the only son of Marion and Winnifred Alexander, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy; son, Ed (Gretchen); four grandchildren: Nathaniel, Isabelle, Madeline, Elijah; his cousin, Suzanne Lonn (Bob), who was like a sister; and numerous extended family.
After graduating from Eastern Washington University, Rick lived his remaining years in Kent, Renton, and Arlington, Washington. He had numerous careers, beginning as a junior high art/math teacher to retiring as a 747 Boeing drafter.
Rick was very creative and could fix or build anything with excellence. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and camping. Devoted to his family, Rick was a loving and good man; a great example to his son and grandchildren. In spite of growing health limitations, he never complained. He persevered through it all, guided by his Christian faith and strong character.
We celebrate his life here and his new life with his Heavenly Father.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family has suggested donating, in Rick’s name, to Safe Harbor Free Clinic, a non-profit charity in Stanwood, Washington.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.SchaeferShipmanFuneral.com for the Alexander family.
