1947 – 2010
Allen was born in West Seattle on June 8, 1947. He had a real passion for life and all of its challenges. He loved his family and always looked forward to seeing his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed a full life which included 11 years in the military – enlisting in both the United States Navy and Army, from 1965 to 1977, much of that time spent in Vietnam and Germany. He was a skilled machinist working at Boeing for 21 years.
There was little idle time in his life. He was a woodsman, archer, bow hunter and wood carver. He loved restoring wood boats and riding the many motorcycles he customized over the years. Allen and his wife Connie were fond of the saltwater and lived for many years on their boat in Everett before moving to Marysville.
Allen is survived by his loving wife, his three daughters, Audra, Kim and Allison and 10-1/2 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Brian, with whom he shared a special lifetime relationship, his two sisters, Nancy and Linda, several nephews, his mother Eleanor and his father, Allen, Sr.
Al fought a liver ailment for many years, but never let it stop him from pursuing the things he loved to do. He passed away surrounded by his family on October 20, 2010.
All the wonders of the physical world were never wasted on him, but that tremendous love and excitement was dwarfed by the shine in his eyes when he saw or spoke of his children, grandchildren, or the people he loved. Think of Al when you see the natural beauty of the mountains, rivers, beaches and oceans.
We will never forget you Allen, you will always be in our hearts.
Memorial services will be held on November 12, 2010, at 11:30 am at the
Tahoma National Cemetery. Reception following service.
