

Hal was born in North Wood, North Dakota on February 14th 1927 to Henry and Ida Halvorson. He was always a hard worker at whatever he did. Whether it be mowing grass in the cemetery, working on his uncle John’s farm and he was always employed throughout his lifetime.
Hal’s mother passed away when Hal was only 6 years old. Hal’s dad remarried and became a big brother to his sister Darlene.
Hal’s dad was the Sheriff of Grand Forks and his new wife Corella cooked for the prisoners.
After graduating High School in Northwood, Hal and His good friend John hitched hiked out to Seattle. John and Hal had an apartment in Everett while they attended Everett Community college. Hal worked at Seattle Hardware until his uncle got him a job in Alaska every summer for Parks Canning. This is where Hal discovered clams, oysters and all the great Northwest Seafood. Hal met Donna in Everett and they married while he was working for Formost Dairy. Donna and Hal had two children Cheryl and David.
Hal worked for the Snohomish County Assessor’s Office and retired after 19 years.
After almost 40 years of marriage Donna passed away in 1992.
After Donna’s passing, Hal found a great golfing buddy and friend in Marian Pappas.
When they both retired they bought a motorhome and left in July for their first trip back to North Dakota.
Hal and Marian were married on April 26th of this year.
For 10 years they went South in the RV for 2 to 3 months visiting his friend John and Ann Evanson in Pleasanton, California. They continued to Palm Springs for golf and then on to Anthem, Arizona where they parked and visited Hal’s daughter Cheryl. Hal and Marian vacationed all over the Western Part of the US and Canada for 10 years with their RV buddies Val and Joy Lindborg.
Hal loved golf and all of his special golf buddies, Val, Dick and Harold. Hal would swing golf balls every day in the yard.
Hal had a few mishaps including breaking his leg at his friend Ken Pasco’s home. Four years ago he fell in the garage, he had lots of pins in his hip and spent month recovering. Despite his injuries he always had great attitude. His health was great right up the end.
He was mowing the grass Friday Morning June 2nd and wasn’t feeling well, so the Aid Car took him to Providence. He began slowing down and was unexpectedly taken from his family early in the morning June 5th.
Hal is survived by his wife Marian, daughter Cheryl, son David, Selena, Grandson Parker, Granddaughter Jessie, Marian’s daughter Christie and daughter Rechelle. Hal has five great grandchildren Kaylee, Bentley, Naomi, Daylan, Victoria, his sister and brother in law Darlene & Al Palm. As well as a host of wonderful special neighbors, Rick and Roxanne Andrews, Joy Lindborg and Don and Judy Girven.
Hal was an extremely caring man who helped anyone when they needed it.
He was a gentle soul who will be missed by everyone whose life he touched. As one of his best friends quoted “some people come into our life’s and leave foot prints on our hearts that are never forgotten.”
