Arthur LeClair Hatch Jr., 78, born on January 15, 1933 passed away on November 18, 2011 with his family by his side. Arthur Jr. was born to Lucille and Arthur Hatch Sr. on the Tulalip Indian Reservation.
Art grew up on Tulalip with his brothers and sisters. In his youth Art enjoyed playing many sports with basketball and baseball as his favorites achieving recognition from Marysville High School as captain and Inspirational Trophy in 1952 for basketball. He received a scholarship for his academic and sports achievements to attend Seattle University. He later enlisted in the Army from 1954-1956 for the Post Korean War achieving rank Private First Class, E-3. During his deployment he was stationed in Japan.
He worked at E. A. Nord Doors for years. After E.A. Nord Doors closed he worked at the Tulalip Marina as Security. He made many friends while working at the Marina. Upon retirement from the Tulalip Tribes, he was able to start his professional men's club career with his fellow Battle Creek Men's Club Members, since 1990. His passion and dedication for the game of golf was unsurpassed.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Hatch; sons and daughters, Larry Brown (Siria), Howard Brown (Deb), Jeff Hatch (Virginia), Arthur Hatch III, Lorena Hatch, Barry Hatch, Lorelei Ranney (Gunnar) and Mark Hatch (Nicole); his sisters, Eleanor "Billi" LeClair, Maxine Williams (Clyde) and Anita "Keeta" Sheldon; his grandchildren, Shonta Retasket- Troung (Dat), Estrella Brown, Ilia Brown (Jeremy), Melissa Retasket, Blair Brown (Daniel), Harrison Brown (Anna), Matthew Brown, Tiffany Forslund (James), Gunnar Ranney Jr. (Erica) Steven Ranney, Celum Hatch, Winter Kirby, Rita Mae Hatch, Cholena Brown, Laura Ranney, Shelbi Hatch, Skylaer Hatch, Robert Kirby Jr., Sterling Hatch and Mark Hatch II; and great-grandchildren, Chanel Retasket, Emma Ranney, Delias Troung, Darien Troung, Alivia Brown, Tecumseh Fernandez, Malia Brown, Kaelyn Kirby and Mileena Troung; and nieces and nephews, Helene Fenrich, Richard Brown (Theresa), Elliot Brown, Neil, Mary, Clyde Williams Jr., Alan Williams, Gene Williams, Terry Davis Marilyn Sheldon, Denise Sheldon, Jamie, Wendy Martin, Evelyn Cross, Donna Muir, Sally Prouty, Donald Hatch Jr., Illene James and Ginny.
He is preceded in death by his father, Arthur Hatch Sr.; his mother, Lucille Hatch; brothers, Donald "Bub" Hatch, and Donald LeClair; and his sisters, Alma "Mayme", Ada Hatch, Arlene Hatch, Roberta Hatch, Lucille "Sweetie Pie" Hatch, Marjorie Hatch and Sheila Garvin.
Art is recognized by his friends from the Battle Creek Golf Course (second home) for his companionship where is was a member of the men's club and played every Tuesday and Thursday and other days of the week ending in "y". Art played the majority of Native American golf tournaments all over the Pacific Northwest, including the 1997 Washington State BMW Open Team Champions and represented his family and Tulalip Tribes proudly.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2011 from 8:00 - 9:00a.m. at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Service on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Tulalip Tribal Center.
