
Barbara Ingrid Smith (Kröeter) passed away on July, 1, 2016. She was born in Leipzig, Germany on May, 31, 1941. After the war, her family relocated to the western sector in Saarland, town of St Ingbert in 1947. Her schooling prepared her for being a Kindergarten Teacher, she taught locally for several years. In 1967 she met her husband Jay Smith who was stationed in Zweibrucken with the USAF. They were married on Feb 22 of 1968. Barbara immigrated with her 3 year old son Christopher to Washington State, Marysville. She worked at several kindergartens in the Everett area for the next 12 years. She quickly pursued the art of restoring antique porcelain dolls. She started a cottage business, the “Collectors Dollcorner” in her Snohomish home. Her business was quite successful before deciding to retire in 2012. She had honed her skills that let her repair, restore, and make fine antique dolls. She had a long list of very happy clients. Her talent was well respected nationally.
Barbara was taken from us by Pulmonary Fibrosis, it was a 2 year journey. She is survived by her husband Jay, son Chris, brothers Klaus of Chicago, and Wolfram and Michael of the Nuremburg area, and numerous nieces and nephews in Germany. She is sadly missed by all who knew her. She was a wonderful Wife and Mother. May she rest in peace.
