Betty and her husband, Bert and their three small children immigrated to the United States in 1949. They lived first in Minnesota, where their fourth child was born, then on to North Dakota. And in 1959 they arrived in Marysville, Washington where they lived out the rest of their lives.
Betty had a career in nursing, retiring from Everett Providence Hospital in 1980. Betty and Bert were charter members of the Cascade Christian Reform Church. Her two greatest passions were her family and her devotion to her Christian faith.
Betty joins her husband, Bert; daughter, Flo; and her sisters, Margje and Sjouk.
She is survived by her children, Sid (Dar), Mary Syme; and Phil (Sandy); five grandsons; three granddaughters; 17 great-grandchildren; and sister, Siem in the Netherlands.
Some things faded for Betty in her later years but never her faith, brilliant sense of humor, positive attitude, and loving acceptance of all who entered her life.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at the Cascade Christian Reform Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cascade Church Outreach Ministry.
